while on our vacation we came across the cross and we will never forget the peace and happiness that came upon us , knowing that as big as this world is ,we are never alone.

I departed CA in Sept. 2002 on a tour of the U.S. I traveled 8,000 miles and took in 24 states in 30 days. We have a beautiful nation but the cross was a highlight of the trip and touched my spirit in a manner that defies description. This memorial is definitely on "holy ground". I was blessed to meet the man and his wife who had the vision for this project. They are very humble. This is a wonderful ministry to all of us. If you have seen the site you know what I mean. If you haven't seen it yet it is worth traveling any distance to see it.

My husband and I was driving back home to Mississippi from California. We had been on vacation for 15 days. We seen the cross from VERY far away and had to see it up close. We have taken pictures of the whole thing and we are going to share them with our church. Hopefully we can get the church to plan a trip to come up and see it for themselves. That will be a great trip for all and a blessing. Thank you to the ones who have taken the time to build and maintain this great blessing for everyone who comes to see it.

We were on a difficult journey and at 3:00 in the morning we saw the cross in the distance. As we drove past the cross my husband and I cried, as we felt the cross was put in our path by the Lord to give us strength, guidance, and assurance that our journey was the correct answer to our family crisis. When we returned home the next day we were able to stop at the cross and give thanks for all of the blessings the Lord provides, including the blessing of this wonderful cross. Thank you.

I just visited the site in person this past week, and it was awesome. Living in Amarillo, I have driven past probably a 100 times and watched the construction from the beginning, however; nothing can compare to standing at the base of the cross and seeing the magnitude, and massiveness of it. Taking the walk along the stations, walking up the steps of Calvary, enter the tomb, it is a must visit for all Christians and non-Christians alike. The most impressive station, except for the cross itself is the tribute to the unborn. As a Christian one cannot visit without getting the lump in the throat, the tug at the heart, yet also feel the joy, knowing of the resurrection.....I will return, next time in the hours of darkness, and will anxiously be awaiting the completion of areas still under construction...

As a truck driver I have been viewing the cross from the highway for a long time. Even when my husband is driving I always seem to wake up in time to view the cross...but finally today I stopped and took pictures of all the stations, and the awesome statues of the representation, of what Christ endured for us, the lowly sinner...And most inspiring is standing below the enormous cross puts one thing to mind....When all of your burdens are laid at the cross of Jesus....they become overpowered by its presence, they become small, as I was underneath its grandeur. I was there to see your cross one cold rainy morning about a month ago. I wanted to linger for a long time just in this awesome surrounding, but it was too cold. This cross is something that should draw all believer's & non-believer's near. This is too much to explain in words. You just have to see it to experience what it you feel! We came upon this beautiful shrine quite by surprise last summer during our travels. We have been to shrines all over the world and this is one of the loveliest. We were happily surprised. Such a memorable thing to be driving along and find such an oasis of peace. Elaine Thomas Syracuse

I'm so glad we took the opportunity to stop. We could just as easily driven on by. It was such a blessing that we didn't. The Cross is wonderful. I'll definitely recommend it to anyone who is traveling that way.

I used to be a truck driver with my ex-husband back in the early 90s. I remember every time we passed the cross I felt a spiritual lifting.

I finally stopped by after Thanksgiving this year. My husband, 9 1/2 yr. old daughter and I traveled to Amarillo for the Thanksgiving holidays. We passed the cross on Wed. going and I felt so thankful for Jesus and the cross. I promised my daughter that we would stop on the way back home to Arkansas. As we loaded up to travel home my daughter asked "We are going to stop at the cross aren't we"? I replied "Oh, yes". On Sunday when we stopped my daughter (who goes to a Christian Academy School) was so amazed at everything we saw. She went around all the stations taking pictures. The stations are awesome! When I walked up the steps of Calvary I felt the Holy Spirit and went down on my knees at the foot of Jesus on the Cross and prayed thanking God for Jesus dying on the Cross so that we may have eternal life. I was able to get a great sunset picture with the three crosses. I had never seen the shroud before and we were so amazed. I overheard another visitor telling some of the story about the shroud which was very interesting.

I thank everyone who had the vision to put together this Sacred Holy Ground. I will look forward to stopping in the future to see what else is added.

My husband and I saw the cross 4 or 5 years ago. It was awesome then, and I anxiously await our next trip west so we can stop again. Carol, Arkansas

My husband and I visited the cross before we gave up driving long haul in 1998. We watched it go up as we drove long haul for several years and I-40 was one of the main routes we traveled. I was impressed with it and have never forgotten it. We had friends here this last week from Arizona and they were traveling home I-40 so I told them to make sure they stopped. Hi.. we stopped at the cross on our way home after the Thanksgiving holiday.. it really made an impact on us we are church members at the Licking Church of Christ. in Missouri. but seeing something like this really brought it to reality I think everyone should see it and experience it! We stopped by Friday, Jan. 3 and were so impressed by the Cross and the rest of the setting. It was a totally spiritual experience which we followed up with a visit to St. Gregory's University in Shawnee.

We had driven by the Cross on previous trips, but never took time to stop until our recent trip a couple of weeks ago. We are so glad we stopped and we learned so much about the Cross that we did not realize. Of course, I had to visit the website when we returned home. It was a cold, snowy day when we stopped. We look forward to stopping again in the near future and see the completion of the additions that are currently underway. could see this magnificent sight for miles when my trucker husband and I were returning from Colorado. was drawn to it, it was still in the building stages, not all of the stations were built. this must have been in 1999. always stayed on my mind. when I found my sister and her husband were heading to col. told them they had to stop and see it. she just called and told me they had stopped, and that how it was a sight to behold. she took videos, can't wait to see it. hope to make a trip back soon. may god bless and keep all the workers save and in god's hands. diana and jay rayne, la.

Hi I am very honored to visit your web site. I think it wonderful that your statues depict the life of Christ. I think a lot of the schools should visit the website. They could find a way to teach the things that matter in life and death. Maybe we wouldn't have so many kids on drugs if they only knew what Jesus did for them. I am a retired teacher myself. I now work at my church with the youth. I is all in our youth. If we don't reach them when they are young we will completely loose them. With my experiences while teaching, the parents around here are not doing such a good job.

I downloaded the stations of the cross and awesome views and showed them to my husband and three teenagers during our evening family worship. They were impressed and we enjoyed discussing the wonderful blessings from our Lord Jesus. Thank you for this blessing. We were really touched by God's spirit. I visited the Cross in December 2002 and was truly amazed at the entire site. It was truly a day to remember, and I pray for blessings over all those involved in the implementation and process of bringing all this to pass. God Bless.

We wept in awe the first time we saw The Cross that fateful night. We wept when we visited THE CROSS that beautiful fall day. The Cross was silhouetted against storm clouds in the North Texas sky. To say our visitation changed our lives is an understatement. It gave purpose, and a goal that literally transformed who we were and why we were here. God bless you Mr. Thomas . You will not know the true worth of this undertaking, till you walk the streets of Heaven and hear the stories of those who would never have made it there, without The Cross being built. I used to live in Pampa, and I had always heard how beautiful it was. I never made time to go and one day I ended up moving to Dallas, TX. One weekend in Feb. 2003, my boyfriend, my 9 month old baby girl and I decided to visit my parents in Pampa and my sister in Amarillo, then when we were heading home, we happen to pass by the cross. I told my boyfriend, "I always wanted to go there and never did." As we were passing by it, he started to exit, and I started getting all excited because I was finally going there. I couldn't believe how wonderful they did inn building it. We loved it. We took pictures and walked around admiring it. We plan to one day take our little girl there again when she is older. I was told by my mother about this site she was there and saw it. so I got on here and got to see it. thank you for sharing this with us. and for letting me share this with my son.i hope there will be the rest of the story of the crucifixion and resurrection put on here so I can keep sharing with my kids.

We were there twice going to and from AZ 02/05/03-02/22/03.On our back we pulled in and stayed all night and what a wonderful site to wake up to. Coming East on I-40 at night what a beautiful site. The peace we had staying there at night was on words. You all have a beautiful place and keep up the good work. We will come back.

My wife and I have been at the cross 4 different times now and expect to be there many times. We first seen it in a semi crossing the country and now when we go on our vacations out west each year . It has taken a new shape each time we stop .The cross is a very moving experience, especially when you can see it so far away from both east and west. We saw the cross on a trip from IL to AZ. Are you aware that there is a taller cross near Effingham IL? Is it by the same organization?

I drove by on my way to California last week. What an awesome site to see as you drive down the road. I was going on a retreat @ Jumonville, Pa on Friday as I was driving to California I need to keep my mine on the people I was going to help there. Your cross reminded my of the cross @ Jumonville ( it is the same type & size but a different design). Seeing your cross kept me in the right state of mine during my trip. Thank you for being the helping hand I needed on my trip.

My husband and I found this site on our way East on Highway 40 between Albuquerque and Amarillo. We were so impressed. What a beautiful place. I cried at the shrine to the pre-born. Wonderful shrine. One of the best we have seen in this country.

Never have I felt closer to the Lord than this day. We spotted the 'cross` 3 years ago on our way to Arkansas to visit our daughter. We stopped for a while and looking up at the 'cross' in complete awe we couldn't believe the size of this huge 'cross`. Oh what good and wonderful people you are to put this on the internet for all of us. This is so needed today when there are people passing laws to prohibit prayers and the word, God in public places and our schools. It makes me wonder what is happening to our wonderful land of America. My husband and I first saw The Cross in 1996 on our way to Arizona. He had retired and we were driving out west for 2 months. We stopped at The Cross on our return trip home. We were both moved by the warmth and peace it gave us. We continued to stop every year on the way home, it was the highlight of our return trip. I've seen the cross while traveling through the area both in daytime and also at night and what a beautiful and calming sight to behold. I was so uplifted and made so aware of the greatest and most perfect love, that of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. What a wonderful testament of His love. I just know that this is a wonderful blessing for our little ones, that they might be born and live safely for they are so loved. Just as God blessed Abram in Genesis 12:2 I feel that God has also chosen you and your wonderful family to do His work and His words "I will bless thee..... and thou shalt be a blessing" are so true for you and your family. On a recent trip to Amarillo, we visited Palo Duro Canyon and the Cross. The creation of both have God's hand in them. The world is in debt to those responsible for this beautiful, awesome cross. I was born and raised in Pampa and now live in Oregon and occasionally get to return to Texas for a visit. The next time I come, I will be sure to make a trip to Groom, to see the cross, in person. I am A member of the Church of Christ in parker Colorado and have visited the site in Groom, Texas on 2 different occasions. I find it to be a very Marvelous site and have recommended my Church friends and fellow workers to see it and experience the site when they are passing that way. I find it to be a wonderful way to remind folks who Jesus is and what he did for each of us .

We were blessed to see this wonderful Cross this summer. We were traveling from New Mexico and there it was looming ahead of us. We made pictures from our car and placed them in our vacation album. Beside the pictures we wrote that God is Love and He is everywhere and if anyone wonders about God's bountiful Love they have but to see this beautiful Cross. We had no idea where the Cross was located and in Our Daily Bread there was an devotional about it and told us of its location. I immediately went to the internet and found it and am now sharing the information with everyone.

I Loved the Cross it stands tall for all to see. I live in Illinois, we have one here also, I don't know if it's as big, but it look's the same, and at night it is lit up so you can see it in the dark too. It's on #57 left side if your headed south some where before the St louis exit.

I was traveling with my family to California from Oklahoma, and we drove through Pampa where my aunt told me that we just HAD to stop to see this cross. I had no clue what she was talking about, until we drove by it. I had to stop. I got a pamphlet and a card from the place at the entrance (the little pink cards), and decided to come to the website. I visited the site yesterday early evening and was so caught up in the presentation that I had tears - I was especially pleased with the accuracy of where the nails were placed. I will share this site with my church members and hope they will be as inspired as I was. I signed the book yesterday but am happy to be able to add my feelings about this beautiful cross.

I was there a few weeks ago on my way to be with my brother in Arkansas before he had an emergency open heart surgery. As we were traveling I was trying to pray for my brothers surgery and was consumed with worry and fatigue so much that I couldn't concentrate. I was becoming frustrated when I looked up to see a bright shining light into the Heavens and then I saw your Beautiful Giant Cross. We were in a hurry to make it to my brothers side before the surgery so, we did not stop, and I prayed...... "okay, God, even though I couldn't concentrate on talking with you, you reached out of no where on a dark secluded highway to let me know you are there, I prayed for peace and my brothers health and our safety traveling and I promised myself we would stop back by there on the way home to California. So we did, a week and a half later. What a wonderful thing you have done there......I imagine their are thousands of stories just like mine. Thank you for letting God use you as his lamp unto the world. While I was in your gift shop, you said you would be putting out a 2004 calendar and I would love to order one, but don't see it on your order form. Please send me information on how I might get one. I also think it would be nice to have a 2003 to send to my brother along with the story of what a miracle God sent to me, through "The Cross" on our travels to see him before his heart surgery, If you still have any 2003 calendars available please let me know. We stopped here on the way home from Albuquerque. I was in a state of awe. Walking through gave me goose bumps. I used an entire roll of film and it was well worth it.

My family and I visited the cross last Tuesday (July 22, 2003). After being on the road 3 weeks, and spending time in San Francisco, Eureka, CA, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, Aspen, Amarillo, and seeing the Redwood Forest & Yosemite National Park, this was the most awesome part of our trip.

While attending a class in Austin several months ago, I met a wonderful person who had recently moved to Witchita with her family. I lost contact with her as I couldn't remember her last name. Later I found a paper with her name written on it. I e-mailed her and she e-mailed me back with this site included. Each time I visit this site my heart breaks when I remember what our Savior sacrificed so that we could have eternal life. This site is such a witness. The cross was a beautiful blessing made for all of the people in the United States, let it be stood up as long as it can be, and let everyone's prayers and blessings come true. A few years ago my husband and I came across the cross on our trip to CA. At that time it wasn't as big as it is now. I really liked it then. We visited the cross on our way home from AZ - IN. It made our day a lot better, we seemed to talk more to each other had a lot less stress and seemed to think about things we have been putting off. It was awesome. My 12 Year daughter is now planning a trip with 3-5 of her friends for next summer and she asked about taking them all to the cross. I thought that was nice, especially since a theme park was the next stop and not first. On the way home from a family reunion in Chattanooga, TN. My Dad and Stepmom stopped by this amazing place, and when they came home they told me all about it. How moving it was, and that when you observed each station it was like you could see everything taking place. Also that just looking at these statues made tears come to their eyes, and even just looking at this website made tears fall down my cheeks as well. We drove through on our way to California from Tennessee in 2000 and visited this awesome sight. It is wonderful and the photos do not show how huge it really is. My wife and I were inspired beyond belief when we drove by your cross a few weeks ago. The only thing we have seen to compare to it are the giant farm animal statues along the freeway in North Dakota. These however were representations of living creatures, rather than depictions of methods ancient cruelty, so they failed to inspire us like your lovely cross did.

My husband and I were traveling to Oklahoma like all of our many trips, But this time I said "hey on our way back let's stop, we always pass this huge cross but never stop." Only God knew why. See we were on our way to court, because of a child support mix up. Well all went well. On the way back we stopped and my husband and I were so overwhelmed by the site. I started crying because of all that God had done for us that weekend. And not only that I knew exactly why we were suppose to have stop on the way back. Shalom... We were traveling through Texas back to California last week. When from a distance we saw what looked like a huge cross in the horizon. When we got closer we noticed that the placed looked very interesting, so we doubled back and drove in to what was to be one of the most amazing and moving experiences in a long time. After getting over the shock of just how large the cross was. We walked around the stages of our Messiah's journey to Calvary. This is beautiful. My sister and her room mate came to visit the site while traveling from California to KY. They were awestruck at the soul wrenching site. I wept when they showed me the photos they had taken and the gift photo album they bought for me. I was on a trip with my mother just months before she was diagnosed with cancer and passed away. It was actually in the fall of 1997 when I drove by this glorious cross for the first time. I had just graduated from college and happened to be driving cross country with my mom. I didn't know exactly what God's plans were for my life and at the time I had many questions. I was driving and asking my mom about the rapture and when she thought it might happen. I remember the moon was out that night and it looked so big and round in the sky. It had this beautiful bright orange color to it. When I looked ahead, I saw what looked like a cross hanging out of the sky. It was glowing and I asked my mom if she was seeing what I was seeing. My foot started shaking against the gas pedal and I thought, "Is this it? Is Jesus coming back now?" If he was, I definitely would not have been ready at that time. As we drove closer, the cross got bigger and bigger and I could hardly believe my eyes. We pulled over and just looked at it and of course, couldn't help but see the other onlookers. This was such a powerful experience for me and I knew at that moment I decided to follow God's will for my life and not my own. Thank you for building this cross! Mimi Gassert Minneapolis, Minnesota

My husband drives truck and had passed the Cross several times. He had told me of the cross and how tall it was. I went on a trip with Him and saw that their was truck parking, so we immediately stopped. The visit has been a blessing in our lives. The serenity felt was incredible. We went to the cross and had prayer. WE have told all our church and family about the cross. We are from Robbins, TN and the cross has reached all the way out here. We visited the Cross on 3/17/04 while on our way from a care taking job in AR to a management couple position in AZ. We were traveling with our 3 year old. We were so overwhelmed with the Cross and the site and prayed for our continued safe travels and future job. Upon arrival in AZ we found that the position no longer existed due to the owner being in the hospital. We prayed and were full of joy and two days later located another couple management position that includes our housing and it was also in AZ! The awesome power of Jesus at work!

This is a beautiful site and such a huge reminder of how much God loves us, I just want to say thank you for all you've done and this continues to do for our Lord Jesus , this truely shows the love and sacrifice He has given us.

I've been past this cross many, many times. One of those times, I stopped and visited the magnificent cross. It was the most moving and inspiring things I've ever seen in my life! My wife and I stopped by on our way to Oklahoma from California. It happened to be snowing that day, but we decided to stop anyway. Thank God, He gave us the wisdom to stop! I am a deacon in the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City assigned to the Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Sayre, Oklahoma. At the Suggestion of one of the ladies of our parish we decided to make a pilgrimage to the Cross, completing our observation of Devine Mercy week. After our 8 Am mass on Devine Mercy Sunday we made the eighty-mile drive, eight of us in all. I believe it was the most inspiring experience we could have chosen. As others have said, I felt as tho I was walking on Holly Ground. The stations are awesome; the Divine Mercy Fountain is absolutely beautiful. Beside the cross it's self, the most moving to me was the Tomb For The Unborn. I could go on and on, so as inadequate as it is, THANK YOU. May I also say that the "Blessed Marry Restaurant" in Groom, Texas is a must, and not because of the food alone. May God bless you and grant you His Peace... +mac

We were on Vacation on our way to Oklahoma & Arkansas coming from Sacramento,CA when we saw the "AWESOME BEAUTIFUL WHITE CROSS" from the Freeway. We passed it by thinking "We're driving & all of a sudden you see this "GIANT WHITE CROSS" & you wonder who put it there & why ? It's so SPECTACULAR" you can't miss seeing it ! And what a GREAT IDEA it was to put it there. Anyway, on the way back from Arkansas & Oklahoma we stopped & I took pictures of the "CROSS" & the FIGURINES of Jesus Christ. Each step I took made me more & more interested in seeing everything that was there. The "CROSS" & ALL the Figurines of CHRIST & The WaterFall was so "UNSPEAKABLE" to express the UnDying LOVE Jesus has for US ! I also went by the WaterFall & put my Hands in the "PRECIOUS WATER". Last month while traveling home, my brother and I stopped and spent time visiting the large cross site. I was in awe at the realism of the life size crosses and Golgotha as well as the empty tomb. I have been blessed with the opportunity to visit the cross several times. Each time I get such a feeling of awe....that my Savior died so that I might have life eternal. I have knelt, wept, sang praises and just looked in awe as I visited Calvary's Hill. The magnitude of the cross at Groom reminds me of the magnitude of sins that have been covered by the cross. Several years ago my husband , sister in law and I were on our way to a family reunion in Elk City Ok, and here along the road was this beautiful cross, we were going so fast it was there and the I watched for a long spell till I could not see it out the back window. This was such an awesom sight, I have always wondered about this cross, who did it. I received an email from a dear friend in Amarillo Tx. sending this to me. I was so heartened to see this cross once more. I am living in Nebraska since 1991 and live my life in the texas and New Mexico panhandle. I have only seen one other statue along side the road and this was on the salt flats in Utah, But nothin will ever affect me as when I saw this lovely memorial to God. My Mother and I just returned from a trip to Tennessee. Like so many other folks we have driven past the Cross many times but this was our first time to stop. I have a dear friend with cancer and wanted to stop and pray for her. I felt such peace at this site and have never felt closer to our maker. I want to thank the lovely ladies that greet you there, they tell you all about the building of the site and make you feel very welcome. I will stop yearly now, it was a pleasure to be in such a peaceful place.

This is definately a very sacred place. I felt it the moment my husband and I got out of the truck we were in. Thank you so much for this place. I was saved a long time ago and had been away from God and my church for some time and when I saw this and felt the electricity around it I knew instantly what God wanted from me. Thank you for being there and following God's command for you to build this place. I rededicated my life to Christ standing on the steps of Calvary on June 22,2004 just after sunset. My wife and I were taking our much anticipated trip along Interstae 40 to seem many of the unique sights along old Rt. 66. We saw so many great things, but NONE that moved us nearly as much as the giant cross and sculptures at Groom, TX. We had to pull off of the road (near dusk) to investigate this magnificent sight. As we looked at the various stages of the crucifixion, we would touch the statues of Jesus, wishing in our hearts that it was really Him and that we could have somehow provided comfort to Him in His darkest hour. It was an incredibly moving experience for us both, and I expect that we will be traveling up there again from Austin just to see it again. I think this ministry is great, my husband and I have stopped by a few times and I just love the feeling it gives. Last time we were there was last May and we met a young lady that was having memories of a still born son that she had had. I have also went through the same experience and I gained a feeling of peace when I was there. We visited you last Sunday morning. We had not had prayer before leaving our motel room, we stopped at the cross to have our travel prayer. We did not know that we would be even more blessed than we had anticipated. We feel that the Lord had us NOT pray at the motel so that we would discover the true blessing that HE had anticipated us finding at your location. I am so grateful that you have done this for all of us. It was such a blessing to have visited your location. It is my prayer that ALL the people on this whole planet earth visit you and that NO ONE will be left "a lost one" when our LORD comes back to claim HIS. Wouldn't that be a blessing!!!! Hi I was doing a bit of cleaning and found the flyer that the attendant passes out when you visit the Cross, and I finally visited the website. I've passed the Cross a million times, it seems, in my travels for work. (I live in OKC, but I do most of my work in W. Texas, NM, and Colorado.) I finally stopped one cold and windy day in March. I was profoundly touched. Not so much by the sheer size of it, although I know that tons (literally!!) of work went into it, but by the Memorial to the Unborn that was there. I really want to Thank God for giving you the idea to build this awesome cross. I visited not long ago and when I got out of my car I felt the most wonderful peace come over me. Back years ago, when I was much younger, I was forced to have an abortion. When I went to the tomb for the unborn I began to think about the abortion and why it had to happen the way it did. I felt as if God was there speaking right to me telling me he forgives me and that it is all going to be ok. I have been blessed two children in my life and I thank God for those gifts. I was once told if God gives you a gift you should love it and take care of it. I now know that he could have chose not to give me another chance at motherhood because of me not taking care of the first gift he gave me. I talk to people ( young girls ) that are thinking about having abortions and try to talk them out of it. The first time I saw the Cross I didn't really know what I was seeing. It was early morning & still somewhat dark. It was also foggy & with the lights shining on it it looked like it went straight up to Heaven. I will never forget that, it was so beautiful. When I first saw the cross it was from I-40 with my father and a friend and at the time I was headed towards Arkansas to meet the love of my life, a few months later I returned to be married, he is in the tucker prison, in Ark. On the way back home I stopped and I thought I saw and felt Heaven right here on earth, I never new such a beautiful blessing existed, I couldn't believe how humbling it was, I cried. My family and I were moving from California to Mississippi with my sister after a huge family crisis. I was in North West Texas working this week and had a store in Groom, TX to visit. As I drove down I40 I saw THE most amazing thing I had ever seen. This cross standing TALL out in the middle of nowhere. I asked the store clerk about it and she suggested I stopped by. The way I was going I could only see the cross, not the stations, Calvary, the tomb, and the fountain. I am SOOOOO glad I did stop to see everything. It was VERY moving, words cannot describe the feeling I got when pulling up to the Cross and then the feeling I got while walking around to the stations and up to the Calvary. AMAZING!! I have been there 5 different times and each trip is a blessing no one can imagine until they visit. My first time I saw the "Cross" from miles away lighting the sky. A beauty to behold. I visited there a week after September 11. I was living in Trinidad CO, I was homesick after all the chaos of 9/11. My mom and dad wanted to pick me and my small children up, but we didn't know where to meet out in the middle of nowhere. I can't express the wonderful blessing this cross was for me. :) I was a weary traveler and I got rest and so much more!! We were on our way home to Illinois and saw the great tornado. On the way to Nevada we saw it and made a plan to stop on the way back. Unfortunately it was early in the a.m. so we would have probably missed it if it wasn't for the sight of the "tornado" We went and saw the outside things and by the time we left the sun and "Son" was shining. :) I walked the stations with my Jesus and even reached out and wiped the tears (rain?) away as He has done for me so many times. What an experience!! He did it for me and here I was with the capability to wipe his tear away and cry with Him. I can't wait to order a book to find out the history of this cross. My husband and I were so blessed to be able to stop and see The Cross. We live in Vinton Iowa and I have told our church family about it and told them to go to the website. During the service today a woman asked me about the stairway to heaven that we saw. It touched her heart so much and she asked me if we had a picture of it. She wanted one and with tears she said, "I want to walk up that stairway". I don't know if you had a picture of it or not since we could only see it at night. If there is one could you let me know. I have to get one for this woman that loves her Lord so much. We pray for your ministry all the time and are so thankful that it is there. I don't ride with my husband all the time now, but when he has a delivery in Amarillo he stops by and we give as often as we can. We would love to see one built here in Iowa. Hello y'all, I had my awe-inspiring, if not frightening and hair-raising experience with the Cross of Groom, TX on the late night/early morning of Oct. 7th. I was driving my mother back to her family in Toledo, IA from Phoenix, AZ. Our goal was to make it to Oklahoma City on the first leg of or journey. Of course, we took I-40. Well, it was after midnight as we left Amarillo. Upon reaching Groom, it was cloudy and rainy. I started seeing what looked like a long, skinny funnel in the distance touching the ground with what looked like swirling dust at its base. I pulled off the highway near an overpass to stop and make sure that wasn't a twister. The last thing I wanted to do was run into a Texas twister in the middle of the night. I noticed that the clouds did not look like the type to spawn a twister. Thus reassured, we continued on warily and that's when we noticed that it was the Cross, backlit with a powerful spotlight that projected the cross' shadow into the clouds. After our heart-pounding encounter with the Cross, we continued on our safe journey to Oklahoma City, and eventually to Toledo, Iowa. Loring (fishbone3925@netzero.net)

We'd passed the cross several years running and since we were going East most times, we thought we'd stop one time in the future...this November was 'that time in the future' for us...the weather was extremely windy and dark as we stopped and got out of our car. I had my camera with me and extra film...we had no idea what we were coming to see...we only saw the cross in passing and on occasion, people were there. We thought, perhaps, this was a war memorial...we had no clue...we could not make out the stations of the cross 'til we were 'there.' With the weather so cold and windy and darkened by cloud cover, one could imagine what it must've been like at Calvary on the day of our Lord's crucifixion. It was quite REAL for us and an experience we won't soon forget. Eight people from my church in Sherman,TX were on our way home from a mission trip in New Mexico. Our driver got on interstate 40 by mistake (we thought) and we saw this enormous Cross coming up out of the prarie. It was an incredible sight. We stopped and spent some time there. It was amazing. Hi, One of our center's volunteer went on a mission trip to New Mexico with her church last week. On the way back, their driver made a "wrong" turn ... they were needing to get to 287, but got on I40 going east. Of course, they saw your Cross, stopped, and went through it. She called me yesterday all excited and gave the website to go view what I have missed. It is so impressive and inspirational... especially the tombstone in memory of the unborn with Jesus holding a baby in His hands. Because that's what this ministry is all about... talking to girls about their Options... not their choice. So, I have a question for you. When did Project Cross begin and when was the date of the dedication. I see the pictures but could find no information about the dates. The reason for my interest is that I just read documentation reporting that 15 Planned Parenthood facilities have been closed since 1996 in the Panhandle alone. Just after the cross had been put in place and did not yet have lights, we were returning home late late one evening from a trip to TN and it was very dark and stormy. As we got close to Groom we could only see visions of the Cross as the lightening flashed behind the cross in the darkest of night. It was more than just awesome but greater still was the thrill to see the cross and not see my Jesus there and to know he had risen. We lost our son this Feb. and it is so great to see that cross and know that what ever he did wrong in this life, he did believe in Jesus, we know that cross tells us "Forgiven". Groom is my birth place. I visit there as often as I can, and try to visit THE CROSS with each visit. I am always so inspired, even to the point of tears. What a wonderful place to lay your burdens. The feeling that I receive and that anyone that visits THE CROSS will receive seems to overpower any burden. This is a must see for all people, Christian and non-Christian alike. My daughter and husband a few years ago while traveling through Texas discovered The Cross from the interstate and stopped to see and found the marvelous display. On our family ski trip to Pagosa, Colorado from home Fredonia, Ky. we drove through Texas so we could see The Cross and how moved we were and so thankful we did. I really enjoyed being there this past Saturday. I didn't get to spend as much time there as I would have liked, I was on my way home. Wow, I just moved from California to Mississippi. What a hard thing for me to do, leave the only home i've known my whole life, all my family and friends. I didn't have a desire to stop anywhere on the way down the 40 except for gas, until i saw the cross and my heart lept with joy. I HAD to pull over and take a look. Thank the Lord it was free because I didn't have much extra in my budget. As I walked around I could feel the spirit of God all around and I had tears in my eyes. I was blessed. It gave me hope and strength to continue on my journey. Thank You for your ministry.

I live in Oklahoma, and my husband and I have seen the cross many times as we have driven to the west coast. It has special meaning to me now because the cross was taken off of the Seal of the City of Edmond Oklahoma, because of lawsuits by athiests. These same people tried to have the large cross put up by on church property adjacent to I-35 in Edmond, Oklahoma removed, but failed. What a tremendous symbol this is for us all who believe. Hi Dear Friends, I recently travled from Ca to Ky, My daughter had ask me to get a picture of the cross for her. We had been by it before and was amazed at how large it was. I did not know just what I was about to expeirence, I had only planned to get pictures from the interstate. Little did I know, God planned for a visit to the cross. I could see small figures around and decided to go by. My visit was amazing, the walk around the statues is one of overwhelming guilt, that Jesus died for ME why would he go through all that for someone like myself who is not worthy.Please forgive me for not being who I should of been to keep you from the suffering. What you suffered for me, I am thankful but ashamed. I was so touched by the presence of God, I have always known that he loved me and that Jesus died on the cross for me. Being there was like watching Jesus go through it all over again, I guess as he cries for the lost he is still giong through the suffering. I hope that you all get a chance to visit the cross. We live in Minnesota, however we have stopped and visited this Cross on two occasions. It is unbelievable, and makes every fiber of your body feel numb and humbled. It is so wonderful to live in this time in history and marvel at the accomplishment of man. Providing this wonderful Cross in the middle of the high plains of Texas giving all that pass the freedom to stop and say a few Prayers and keep in touch with the Sacrifice that Jesus made for us. I have visited the cross and for the life of me I couldn't remember where it was. I had stopped to take pictures of the different things there and I was so overwhelmed I couldn't take any more pictures. As I came to the station where Christ was upon the cross, I couldn't even look at his face=. I was so ashamed of my whole life. I will not say I went out and was saved and baptized immediately but I will say that that was a significant event in my life. I have lived in Panhandle Texas forever and driven by the cross numerous times. The first time I visited a couple of years ago I was truly touched. I was brought to tears at its awesomeness. I visited again today on my way to Oklahoma. No words can begin to describe the feelings you have when you are there in the midst of such an awesome sight. I first saw The BIG Cross on a trip to carlsbad NM from warner ok.. which is also on Interstate 40 That trip was in late 1999 and I remember how awestruck I was..It was an awesome sight to behold. I have visited the Cross twice. The first time was on a cold night after making a trip to Kansas to check on my father. The experince was a very moving one and especially when I entered the tomb, which I was hesitant to do. My two daughters and I visited it on 3-14-05 and it was wonderfull to see the new additions that have been made. My oldest daughter has visited the Cross before, but it was the first time for my youngest. I could tell that it had an effect on her,especially the tomb she didn't want to go by herself. I would just like to praise and thank everyone that has been a part of this wonderfull gift to God and his people. As my mother and myself passed through the town of pampa, my mother and I looked up and saw the beautiful cross that was standing there next to the highway. The whole day it was cold and windy, cloudy and did I mention cold. Anyways, when we pulled up to the Cross all of a sudden the sun began to shine. I do believe it was the best part of our trip. I was in awe of the tour I went on around the cross. After we left the cross that day we saw a rainbow, which means, a promise and new beginning. It was truly a blessing seeing the cross. God bless! Going through the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday has never been so moving. My children and I were very touched. The Divine Mercy fountain was amazing. Thank you for having the faith to build such a wonderful place on the Texas Plains.

I had quite a treat while visiting the Cross. i was with another driver and we were on our way to Grand Junction, Colorado. to deliver 2 school busses to them, I had my Grandson with me in the bus. We had driven from Conway, Arkansas and stopped at the last rest stop in Oklahoma. I lost my purse while we were there. Our busses were governed at 55 miles per hour so it was taking forever. When we reached near the cross the other driver ask shall we stop and check this Cross out. We had passed it sever times in the past in our journies. so I radioed back to her and said yes. We then left the Hiway and pulled in and that's when I discovered that I didn't have my purse. Oh boy! It was 76 miles back to the rest area, and we flewas fast as my bus would go. All the while I prayed and cried at the thought of My money and ameripass drivers license and everything would be there, My grandson kept assuring me that we would find it. when we got there and starting searching trash cans hoping whoever had found it simply removed the money and tossed it into the trash, well no luck we found. we were headed toward one last trash can and a lady called to us that there was a note attatched to the wall with duck tape about a found purse we quickly returned to where she was and there was the note. Purse found check across Hwy at Welcome Center. so My Grandson and I proceeded to cross Interstate 40 to the Center and when we walked in the lady ask are you by chance looking for a purse, which I quickly answered OH YES> they had already put it in envelope to mail to me. everything was safe and sound nothing missing. I found out that a cleaning lady had found and turned it in. I tried to reward her but they insisted that she would not take anything because she was only doing her Job. We left and returned to the Cross to regain the other bus which we had left. and when we got there we we wet into the gift shop and I donated the money that I intended to give to the lady named Joyce to the ministry in Her name. I have never failed to stop at the cross in my Journies since and I told everyone about my story and that they need to visit the Cross. Show me the Cross and I'll find my way home has been with me since. I have a story to tell you. I have never been in your area to see the cross, but my dad has, only a couple of days ago in fact. I never knew my Dad, he and my mother were never married to each other, they both had failing marraiges when they met. Dad is 86 years old, I am 58 years old and I decided a few weeks ago to make contact with him, nervously. When I tried to get his Arizona phone number, I wasn't able, so I left mine with people who knew him. Long story short, he phoned me himself promptly, and was delighted to hear from me. We talked by phone nearly everynight since then. He told me that on April 1st, he was going to leave Arizona and return to Wisconsin where I've lived all my life. He headed out as planned, and drove past your cross. He said he had to stop there, and called me from there in tears. He said he had to call me from that Holy Place. He had been bitter over my mother, and the fact that she never let either of us know (Dad or I) about our blood relationship and so we lost so many years. Today, here we are, him with prostrate cancer, and I in remission with breast/lung cancer, realizing there is no time for holding on to the past hurts, it is a time for mending fences. I know not where all this will lead, but I know it has to be good....because the Lord arranged it, I'm sure of that. Lastnight, my dad arrived in Wisconsin, and I went with my husband to meet him for the first time. It was wonderful... and it was then that he gave me your cassette about the cross. He told me he was compelled to stop there, and give thanks. He said he signed your guest book, and put in a prayer request for me. I listened to your tape lastnight, and again this morning. I was traveling back from New Mexico to Fayetteville, Arkansas with a prisoner that I had bonded out of jail and was taking him back to jail in Fayetteville. We stopped at your site and was in awe of everything. When we left we talked about it all the way back. Prior to arriving at the jail we stopped at my pastors home. They invited us in to eat supper. We were leaving and I was going to have them say a prayer for him, but before I could say anything he had already say can you pray for me, and right there in their living room he dedicated his live back to the Lord. We were on our way home from Russellville Arkansas when we noticed the cross towering over the countryside. We were about 5 miles out and feeling drawn to it, were compelled to turn our car around and found our way to its location. We definetly felt His presence when touring the site. One of our pictures of the cross actually came back from the developers with a very red glow around the cross and we do not believe that this was an accident as none of our other vacation pictures had this. Since I have found this Web Site, I visit almost daily. It gives me courage to face the day. I currently am caring for my aged parents. My Dad is 88 and my Mo is 82 and suffers from Altzheimers and can no longer cook and do for them, so I do it for them. Tonight my oldest Grandson will graduate from High School and then in Aug. he will report back to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri to complete his AIT and then on to serve his Country. My son in law saw the Cross from the distance. We kept on until we found it. When My daughter, son in law and I walked up the stairs to the three crosses. We started to cry. I was searching, just searching for the "cross". Something to put on our thank you sympathy card. My part to do with my family. We lost my daddy recently on Oct 1, 2005. I always believed 3 times my charm so when I was searching the third try came to your website. I thought this is beautiful I can see it even without leaving where I am at now, perhaps one day. Very thankful for the message of the heart-touching cross along I 40, sent us by my brother and sisterinlaw in mexico. We have not been there, but the liturgy of many who actually viewed the Cross, is a hopeful sharing in a hurting world. There is a clay cross hanging above the computer, quite visual with red marks on Jesus' arms and feet, to remind us of the "burning love of Christ crucified", to borrow some words of Saint Bonaventura, the person who continued leading the Franciscan Order after St. Francis' crossing over.

We visited the cross at Groom just a year ago on a trek we made with my brother on Route 66 from New Mexico to Chicago. That wonderful cross stood out on the horizon for miles, and though we did not think we had time to stop, we did stop and walked around the stations of the cross, then up the hill to the three crosses. I had had double knee replacement in January. This journey was kind of my emancipation proclamation, as I drove all 3500 miles of it. The cross at Groom was one of the most special highlights of our trip. We were revisiting photos of it just a few days ago! It is an amazing testament to the Lord! As a Catholic, I never see much of the Stataion of the Cross so this is the frist on the open road. I go to them at church all the time and they are so up lifting knowing what Christ did for us giving his life for us and caring the cross and then hanging from it as they beat him until we could not even know who he was. This is so for Thomas did not know him until he showed him his hands and the wholes in them. so the movie Passion is almost to the point were they beat him so. The cross is also a spectacular sight from an airplane. As I was flying from Amarillo to Dallas on a Southwest Airlines flight. Our flight path was somewhat following Hwy 287 over Clarendon. I could see the cross from the air above the Clarendon. I thought that was pretty neat!!

I want to tell you how beautiful I thought this was...........what a sight to see as we topped the hill of the vast desert. We were by there before the last 2 stations were there and the large center was being built. We were not able to stay to see the cross lite at night I am sure that is a site to see.

They have done a beautiful job in the additions. We hope to get back there again to see more of the finished job. We are about 3 hrs. away. The trip would be worth it.

I just wanted to write you a note to tell you about our visit to your beautiful cross, we were just driving back from Bowring, Oklahoma 2 days ago (Nov. 19,2005) from visiting my dad, who is very sick, (his cancer has come back and he doesn’t want any more chemotherapy, radiation or operations). We had made this journey to see my dad (maybe for the last time) to share the gospel with him, to tell him about our Savior and how much He loves him and how He gave His life for him. Well, we visited, caught up on our lives, supped together and had a great time but, the subject really never seemed to get around to the cross. I was praying that God would give me the opportunity, the words and the boldness in which to share… but it just didn’t come... And then, it was time to leave… the goodbyes, the kisses, the hugs, the final pictures and feelings of not knowing if we’ll see each other again, possibly not even in heaven one day… well, I was feeling so down in spirit, like a failure and then we happened upon your cross… I had to stop, so, we pulled over our rented motor home and got out to take pictures… for 2 hours or more! Then, when we were ready to leave… our motor home wouldn’t start! We were literally broke down at the foot of the cross… which is where we are supposed to go when (in life) we feel “broken”. All the way home I was wondering what the significance of breaking down right in front of your cross was supposed to be…. and then it came to me as I was reading your story on the website… I am supposed to share this site with my dad… maybe some more “seeds” will be planted… maybe God will speak to him through your story… I don’t know… all I know is… thank you for listening to that still small voice, for being obedient and not giving up… for your perseverance and love for the lost. Hello and God Bless. I have been to the Cross in Groom twice while crossing the country in a 18 wheeler, at that time Buddy Pane was a guard there. I will never forget having the honor to see this cross. We parked the 18 wheeler on the property on a cold winter night and at 3am I walked thru the whole area and I can't explain what I felt. At one stage of the Cross my Instincts was to lift the Cross up off Jesus when he fell for it seemed so real even at 3am. I walked the steps to Calvary and felt the Lord was staring down at me from that Cross. My Husband wanted so bad to visit and see this cross for himself but he wasn't able to. He died Jan 3rd 1999 sitting at the dining room table reading his Bible. He did get to see the post cards I brought home before he died. He is with the Lord now,

Like I tell people, if going to Groom Texas and seeing this Cross doesn't touch your heart nothing will. God Bless all of you who built this wonderful tribute to the Lord..

A school classmate sent me this brochure on e mail. I was shocked to see that it is so close to us and we have heard nothing in the news or anywhere about it. We will be making a trip to see the CROSS as soon as possible. It make chills run up and down your spine just to view it over the Internet. I sent the e mail to everyone that I knew. I stayed in Fritch the 2^nd night of the Groom Panhandle fires. I traveled with the TEX-Vet 83 WELCOME HOME RUN down TX Vietnam Veteran Memorial Hwy 83 in March. I’m Pres of the NE VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS MEMORIAL HIGHWAY 83, and rode in the support vehicle from Perryton to Brownsville with 60-100 bikers. I had the directions to drive past the cross on the way home from Lubbock , but it rained all that day, so I drove straight home 11 hrs, and got here as the first of 22” snow hit the NE Sandhills .

It sounds like many bikers visit your cross. I’m impressed.

My husband and I saw the cross as we were headed to Arizona in October, 2004. It was truly an awesome experience. When we first saw it we anticipated it would be just a few miles down the road. The visibility was excellent that morning and it must have been a good half hour we kept our eyes on the cross. It was beyond all our expectations that it was so huge. We were expecting it to be the size of a utility pole. We came back home the same way so to get a closer look. We hope to go back again when we aren't on such a tight schedule and spend more time when the visitor's center is open and take some pictures.

My husband and I saw this cross from a distance many times when we wintered in Arizona from Indiana, but never saw it up close as these pictures show..I think our son did, thought, and will forward this to him...bless whoever sent this to me...I'll have to back up to see who did....love the music also...I am now in assisted living in Green Valley, Arizona.....emorris5@triconet.org my husband was deceased in 2001.

I really enjoyed this site. I saw all the hard work that went into arrecting this cross and I think it is a moving experience to see it on the site. I hope to see this cross when we visit Amarillo. I am very glad that a family member shared this website with me. I cant wait to see the cross at night. I already had a very moving experience and I know that seeing it in person will be just awsome. Some Atheist group is trying to get our town to remove our lighted cross
from top of our water tower, what a joy it would be to have one of this to replace it.

My name is Ryan Ray and I live in Amarillo Texas. Me and My Family check out the cross a lot. Every time I get to feeling like I am not doing something right I always try to make a trip to the Cross and confess my sins. Each time I come back to Amarillo a changed man & I am thankful. To the crew that built that lovely cross. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Also to the Ministries may god bless each of you. My grandparents live in Amarillo, so I hope to visit there again soon. Our 3 year old daughter had a heart transplant 1 1/2 years ago, so travel has been limited. The next time my husband and I, along with our two daughters are in that area, we will stop by and look at the amazing work of God.

You have created a wonderful tribute to our Lord and Savior...I thank Him for your devotion to Him, a quality we see fading in our world, but with people like yourselves, we know hope is still alive.There is a place near Uniontown, Pa. about 8 miles from Shanksville,Pa. where flight 93 crashed on 9-11, that has a the 3 crosses on a very high hilltop and at night it is lighted and most beautiful..My husband's job takes him there evrey week and we got pictures from there and I just know the wonderful feeling we get when viewing a site such as this!
